Have you been looking to do some volunteering for good causes in your community? Do you like helping kids, having fun and feeling like you made a difference? Why not consider joining us and become a member of our Kiwanis club?
Serving Children, Youth, and Our Local Community.
The Kiwanis Club of Rock Hill was chartered in 1920, making it among the oldest Kiwanis Clubs in the nation. As we begin 2025, there are 49 members ranging in ages, in professions, and in length of time as residents of Rock Hill / York County. Some of our members are retired from their careers. All of our members enjoy gathering for our buffet luncheons / speaker programs as well as serving the community. The amount of time given by members for service projects can range greatly from a couple of hours a month to much more.
Examples of our current activities…
Provide for the Terrific Kids Program in all Rock Hill Elementary Schools and several charter schools reaching more than 5,000 students every year.
Organize and host the annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast (Come-See-Me Festival sanctioned event.)
Host the annual Law Enforcement Officers Appreciation Luncheon for area agencies.
Provide a cookout for campers at Camp ARC, a camp for mentally and physically challenged adults.
Participate in the Salvation Army’s Christmas ringing of the bells.
Donate to the Kiwanis International Foundation and the Carolinas District Foundation for international and regional projects.
A few of our past local projects…
Provided donations to the Rock Hill School District program “Back the Pack” which feeds hungry students during the weekends.
Sponsored an Aktion Club for physically and mentally challenged youth and adults.
Our Club’s centennial gift created the dress up room for the Main Street Children’s Museum.
Contributed $15,000 to the Rock Hill Parks Foundation for the renovation of the playground at Northside Park in memory of Harriet Bucy for the benefit of the Boys & Girls Clubs of York County.
Collected toys and gift cards for the “Toys for Happiness” Christmas drive.
Donated $5,000 to the Children’s Attention Home for playground construction and renovation.
Additional details about us…
In addition to our annual budget, our Club has its own 501(c)(3) foundation for receiving charitable gifts which support special efforts above and beyond the annual budget.
We currently offer two types of memberships – General Membership and an Educator’s Membership.
A General Membership is $350 which covers luncheon meals, international dues, district dues, Board and event insurance and other club expenses.
An Educator’s Membership is an associate membership option for those who work in Education and are unable to attend our regular meetings throughout the year. It is $175 which covers international dues, district dues, and insurance coverage, along with three luncheon meals during the year.
